About this image

This observation was made under better seeing conditions than the previous one on the 11th, but with a noticeable gusty breeze that caused a lot of image shake. A larger region of interest was needed on the sensor to avoid losing the planet entirely for long periods. Nearly 0.5% of the video frames were of good quality, which is about average. The obvious bright spot on the disc is the impact crater named Kuiper, one of the brightest features on Mercury. Another spot on the limb at the 4:30 position is probably Debussy. Some of the more subtle tonal variations elsewhere also appear to match the blurred Messenger image.
