About this image

A few more linear polarisation measurements recorded with my set-up since April - though I'm still climbing the learning curve. I've compared my measurements with those made during the 1977 eclipse and tabulated in a paper by R.J.Pfeiffer & R.H.Koch [Astro. Journal, Vol 94, No.2, Aug.1987]. In the weeks following those shown in the trace for 1977, a large polarisation pulse was measured which the authors speculated might be due to the ejection of a large quantity of material from the M star to its hot companion.
