About this image

Mercury imaged under initially good seeing conditions which deteriorated after ten minutes. The image shown was obtained from only the first ten video captures, a total of 50,000 frames, but the usable proportion of frames was about 2% which is very high. The resulting image agrees fairly well with the softened reference image from Messenger data.
