About this image

When friends ask me what do I like about astronomy the first thing that pops into my mind is it is like being in a time machine, and the Andromeda Galaxy for some reason epitomises that for me. Just think about it, it takes over 2 million years for light from this galaxy to reach us so when I look at it today, that's what it looked like 2 million years ago. Is it still there? Does it look any different? Who knows, lets just sit back grab a beer or two and wait and see in another 2 million years!

This was my first real attempt at astrophotography. The image was captured through an unguided William Optics Z61 and includes some star trails. No flats, no darks and no bias frames. All the light frames were included, even those containing aircraft lights, and was re-processed again today using PixInsight (Original processed image posted 12/2018).

Thank you for looking.
