About this image

This was presented to me in 1961 and includes a little 1962 calendar.  It represents a comment on amateur astronomers of the time and their home made telescopes.  (I hope it was not referring to myself because my first a 6" dates from 1958 and my second a 9.5" from 1961.  However my mirrors were made under the supervision of an expert at night classes.) Nevertheless I present it here because it shows artistry and Merv Jones, who owned a 4" refractor, and later a 10" reflector, was a very fine artist.  Some of his lunar drawings dating from this period were forwarded to the BAA and presumably retained in their archives.

Reminds me of making the equatorial mount in Norton's star atlas, but all in wood except the RA and Dec shafts.
