About this image

C/2018 Y1 (Iwamoto) from Chelmsford this morning. This comet is developing quite nicely and this is the first chance I've had to image it from Chelmsford since before Christmas. From my latitude (51.5N) it is now around 15 deg above the horizon at dawn. It is now moving at around 1 arcsec/min and will accelerate as it heads towards closest approach on Feb 12. The orbit is now well defined and I've posted some updated charts here.
