About this image

The 50cm f/4 Newtonian in the Connaught Dome at the Norman Lockyer Observatory has now been upgraded and mounted on a Paramount Equatorial which was very kindly donated by the late Kieron and Ann McGrath of SCS Astro. The mount performs exceptionally well, allowing for 60 sec unguided exposures without any significant image shift between successive exposures. Some minor collimation issues and astigmatism in the f/4 mirror but hope to sort that out soon.
