About this image

First seen from home just after midnight (UT) so decided to go to the local golf course for a better view. It was limited to a height of about 30° at first. The sky was fairly clear but gradually clouded over so travelled home expecting that the show was over. Twenty minutes or so later the sky cleared again and the NLC display rapidly spread and reached the zenith closer to dawn.
