About this image

This image was taken between 12.00 UTC and 15.00 UTC (19.30-22.30 ACST Local Time ) from the clear Class 2 Bortle Sky at Trevor's home in Clare South Australia. This is part of Corona Australis and borders the constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpius.

Also known as the " Southern Crown " it is the southern counterpart of Corona Borealis, the " Northern Crown ".  This constellation is visible in the winter months in the Southern hemisphere and also prominent in the image is Globular Cluster NGC 6723 known as the "Chandelier Cluster".

The indigenous Boorong people of northwestern Victoria saw it as Won, a boomerang thrown by Totyarguil, and this area has been recorded by many cultures dating back to the ancient Mesopotamians.
