About this image

The open cluster NGC 225, also known as the Sailboat Cluster, is found in Cassiopea.  The reflection Nebula, VdB4, is reflecting the light of the nearby stars.  The reflection nebula provides the sail for the sailboat asterism.

I was inspired to capture this image after seeing a wider field photograph in the September edition of Astronomy Now.  This image was captured on the nights of 14th and 17th September 2019.  The bright moon was still an issue on the 14th.  This reflection nebula is very dim so using our one-shot-colour camera and with a bright moon, made this a challenge.

30 images of 10-minutes each were captured over the two nights.
