About this image
An early evening pass of the ISS in better seeing conditions than the previous day. This was the first serious trial of a new tracking system which is intended to keep the telescope speed more consistent and thus allow the acquisition of longer sequences of frames. A rather gusty breeze shaking the telescope caused problems, but several continuous groups of frames lasting up to five seconds were captured. Eliminating frames with bad seeing and stacking up to 20 of the best remaining frames within a 2 second window gave some good views with plenty of detail. The image shows a montage of views from around 40 degrees elevation in the west to overhead, plus an enlarged version of the best image of the pass.
