Venus: 3rd January
About this image
Observation of Venus made this evening. The seeing was fairly good at times (although predominantly AIII-IV), but during the stable moments, some subtle features were seen. The southern cusp collar continues to be the darkest feature on the disk. Also present:
- Bright Limb Band: Visible and complete (dazzling at times)- bright patch visible on the limb just north of the equator?
- Terminator: Geometrically regular
- Cusp Caps: southern cusp cap seen, still no real sign of the northern cusp.
- Cusp collars: only the southern one present, and quite dark.
I had hoped to attempt filter work, but the clouds came up at 1615UT putting a stop to observations.
Best wishes,
-Paul
