About this image

My first attempt at a comet. C2017T2 PanSTARRS on the evening of 3rd January 2020.

46 120-second images were captured.  The comet was registered with PixInsight at its 19:32 UT position.  The star background with the comet removed also registered to the 19:29 UT position.  The comet and star stacks were then recombined and proceed with PixInsight.

The centre of the image was at RA: 3h 17m 6.6s; Dec: +55 32 30.9

Field of view is approximately 35x25 arc minutes.

Comet was 228million km distance on 3rd January with perihelion not until May 4th.  Its reported magnitude was +9.5
