About this image

Mercury was very prominent tonight, visible with the naked eye from 1745 onwards. Here it is a little bit later when it was only 5 deg above the horizon but much more prominent due to the darker sky. The star a bit to the left, just above the tree is lambda Aqr which is mag 3.7.
