The "Soul Nebula" in Cassiopeia

About this image

This wide-field image of the nebula shows the highly active regions which are energised by massive new bright-blue supergiant stars, some fifty times larger than our Sun.  The energy from these young stars is eroding away several picturesque dust pillars in the nebula.

For this image the camera, a ZWO ASI071MC Pro, was cooled to -20°C.  31 frames of 4 minutes each were captured, PixInsight used to register and stack, and the frames were integrated with drizzle algorithm. Master light image was processed to final draft stage using Lightroom and Photoshop.
