About this image

Mercury was imaged under difficult conditions, with relatively poor local seeing and intermittent high cloud. The raw data required both software processing and manual frame selection to obtain a reasonable result. The files were processed in PIPP and Autostakkert!, then 2770 frames were selected from 43 out of 87 video clips. Final stacking and processing was done in Registax. The comparison with a blurred Messenger image shows good agreement of the major albedo features.
