About this image

My first attempt at capturing & processing a sunspot region using my Lunt LS60THa solar scope with ZWO ASI071MC Pro astro-imaging camera.

There is a new Sunspot region (AR2765) which first appeared a few days ago and the skies were clear enough that I thought I would give it a go. Seeing was a bit iffy and there was some hazy cloud which kept slipping in front of the Sun, nevertheless I managed to shoot a video image of 1000 frames and selected, stacked, and processed the best 400 of them (Astrostakkert, ImPPG, & Photoshop).

Hopefully this is the definitive start of Sunspot Cycle 25!

I had a go at assessing its "quality", according to a recent BAA article by Lyn Smith, which I think is Hsx - solar experts please feel free to educate me as this is a whole new area I've got myself into!
