R Sct - Deep Fade Oct/Nov 2020

About this image

R Sct (an RV Tauri type variable Yellow supergiant) is in a deep fade (thanks to John Toone for the notification on the BAA VSS alert list).

Here is 10 x 30sec combined through G filter - taken 29th Nov, 1916UT-1922UT from EEYE in Spain. R Sct is dead centre in the frame. The Wild Duck Cluster (M11) is the prominent open cluster to the lower left (east) of frame (north is up), NGC6704 is the smaller cluster to the centre left. (See also the annotated version - https://britastro.org/node/24826)

Analysis of 10x10 sec exposures with TG filter (Green compared to V magnitudes) taken just before placed R Sct at magnitude 8.47+/- 0.02.
