Title

Fitting out the 3.5m dome - 3

About this image

This is the Sirius dome rotation motor box being fitted. The motor is 24 volt run at 12 volt to give a sensible rotation rate. The drive pinion engages with a 360-degree toothed rack - 35 feet of it all around the base of the dome. I've stuck a a bit of paper between the rack and the dome so you can pick it out.
