About this image

For three days in a row during October 2012 there were geomagnetic  storms, these were instigated by a CME strike on Oct. 8th and were re-energized by a CH solar wind stream that hit the Earth's magnetic field late on Oct. 8th. For once we had a clear sky and I took this image of a huge auroral arc from my back garden in south County Sligo in the early hours of the 10th of October 2012.
