About this image

These three active regions were imaged using filters operating at or around three discrete frequencies, unpeeling the solar atmosphere.

Baader Solar Continuum filter at around 540nm - the solar photosphere.

Baader Calcium K Line fiter at around 393.4nm - Region 500km above the photosphere.

DayStar Quark operating at 656.3 nm - Region 1500 to 4000km above the photosphere.
