About this image

A comparison between photos taken on 30.03.2021 and 19.05.2021 showing Nova Cas 2021 shifting in colour to red.

I guess it means the ionised Hydrogen is getting cooler and electrons jumping back to lower orbit round the nucleus, which results in emitting photons in the red spectrum (Balmer series). See brilliant spectrum photos by Mike Harlow

Hi Mazin,

A very nice comparison illustrating the changing conditions in the nova.  Look forward to seeing more of your images of the nova as it fades.  Nice work,

Mike.

Thanks Mike, I will (weather permitting). Also your brilliant work made me think of learning Astro Spectrography in near future :)
