About this image
This is a good time of the year to observe or image the Moon, if you like to stay up very late (or get up very early), though on this occasion, seeing was quite poor.

Mare Nectaris is on the terminator. It is a huge, multi-ring impact basin. The craters to the upper left of the dark mare are Theophilus, Cyrillus and Catharina. The partially-destroyed crater below the mare is Fracastorius.
