About this image

A maxim I have adopted is if the number of observations is limited by the number of clear nights at a given observatory, then increase the number of telescopes at said observatory.

I have finally set up a second telescope centred on an older 16" F:6 Newtonian mirror to add to my existing system. Both telescopes are controlled from my study with a hard wired network.

The past few months have been spent testing out this set  up by participating the ARPS Mission 29 and asteroid low phase angle projects.  Initial worries with regard to the transmission of road vibrations seemed to have been solved by tightening up bolts and spring plungers, etc.

I've attached a stacked (13x60sec) image at  a plate scale of 0.57" per pix.  Astrometrica was used with Gaia catalogue and sloan r' filter settings.

Faintest object is a possible 20 sloan r' certainly upper 19 sloan r'.

The seeing conditions were not good with some haze and slow moving high cirrus and altitude 45degrees.

I am generally happy with the performance of the system thus far.
