About this image

The dwarf planet (1) Ceres has been traversing the lower Hyades. Last night it was at appulse with sigma1 Tau (centre of field), with a separation of about 5 arcmin. The bright star above sigma1 is sigma2 Tau.

This image was taken in poor seeing when mag. 8.7 Ceres was at an altitude of 9 degrees.
