About this image

This is the brightest outburst of this comet in decades.  I had intended to capture an unfiltered image but I was unable to separate my luminance filter from the OAG at the vital time.  In this colour image the outburst comet is clearly seen as a bright almost blue-white colour spreading material to South in a short stack.  The rate of movement of the comet against the background stars is slow enough fo a stack of 20minutes without any discernable movement in the image.  The inset is a stack of five frames over 10minutes showing clearly the small bright coma with material starting to spread to the South.

Good to see a colour image of the recent outburst coma.

You can see one later outburst coma inside of the envelope of an earlier one. Have been in correspondence with a professional who is looking to image in colour using the 8.1-m Gemini North scope on Mauna Kea. I hope he manages it. Only needs a few minutes of short exposures to get there. Need something like that for publicity material.
