29P coma expansion

About this image

Four images of 29P measured using comphot showing the expansion of the coma at around 2.5 arcsec radius per day which corresponds to 10,000 km/day or 115 m/s. The total magnitude has risen slowly from 11.4 to 11.0. As the coma expands the surface brightness falls. It will be interesting to see how long we can follow this for.
