About this image

This is a narrowband mosaic with two images of the Veil Nebula in the HOO palette. The resulting field of view is roughly 3 by 3 degrees. Each image of the mosaic consists of 18 x 900s exposures making about 4.5 hours of exposure each. The filter used was the Optolong L-eXtreme dual band filter which provides both Ha and OIII bands with a width of 7nm each. Interestingly, this was taken in mid July when astronomical darkness is not achieved in the South Coast of England.
