About this image

NGC 1587: Bright, round and slightly elongated. The middle is brighter and there is a stellar nucleus. There is a clear dark gap between this object and its neighbour NGC 1588.

NGC 1588: Bright, small and elongated with a brighter middle and a stellar nucleus.
