About this image

Discovered by John Herschel in 1832, this star group was originally thought to be an open cluster. It now appears more likely that it is an asterism.

See:  Balaguer-Núñez, L.; Jordi, C. ; Galadi-Enriquez, D. ; Zhao, J.L. :New membership determination and proper motions of NGC1817. Parametric and non-parametric approach. 819-826  Astronomy and Astrophysics, October 2004.   This paper refers to NGC1807 during the analysis of the nearby stars of NGC1817.

You've also captured the tiny 14.9 mag galaxy PGC 16865 (CGCG 469-3).

Thanks Patrick. Only just seen your comment. Looked back at this image following the article on NGC1807/1817 in Issue 190 of The Deep Sky Observer. H 0507+164 is also visible I think.
