About this image

IC 1454 is a small (34 arc sec) planetary nebula in Cepheus. It is also known as Abell 81 and is the northernmost of the Abell planetary nebulae. It is only 9.56 degrees from the north pole. It is estimated to be around 17,000 light-years from Earth. It was discovered by William F Denning on August 9, 1891. Its central star is magnitude 18.8.
