About this image

Thanks to Grand Privett who pointed to a second very faint asteroid in the same frame as Asteroid Ninian. Upon checking the minor planets site I identified this asteroid as (23132 2000 AT131) which is mag 18.7

I am really surprised that my small telescope has just about picked such magnitude, thanks to a clean Bortle 3 sky.

A very nice result but, TBH, I am not too surprised. Many people do not realise what they can do until their attention is drawn to it.

I once examined an image of M31 taken with a 80mm refractor. That image was optimized for aesthetics, not for science, but nonetheless a sub-19th magnitude Cepheid was readily visible.
