About this image

Venus was only about 8 degrees above the horizon and the Sun had just set; Stellarium suggests it was 0.9% illuminated . Venus was shimmering away frantically, so I'm amazed the image turned out as well as it did. Cusps appeared to intermittently brighten, length and shorten with the poor seeing, and the eye played tricks making my brain think it was a complete disc.

Frames run through PIPP, 50% discarded. Remaining 9000 frames loaded to AS!3, and 10% stacked. Attempted to adjust wavelets in RegiStax6 but resultant images were worse with wavelet adjustments than without.

Image taken jointly with Richard Severn.
