About this image

De Mairan's nebula is an overlooked sibling of the Great Nebula in Orion. A great cloud of H alpha illuminated by Nu Ori with a dark lane running north to south. There is also a very striking red star to the east. Taken last night under a full moon with an L-Enhance filter.
