About this image

Mayall II is the Andromeda Galaxy's equivalent of our ω Centauri, in that it is very large and very bright, but even more so!

At magnitude 13.8 it is by far the brightest extragalactic globular cluster in the northern hemisphere and is a relatively easy target for visual observers equipped with 30cm or larger telescopes.
