About this image

Messier 67, (also catalogued as NGC 2682), is one of the most ancient star clusters known. It is a fine, bright cluster (magnitude +6.9) & makes an excellent target for binoculars or small telescopes. Estimates of its age range between 3.2 and 5 billion years and distance estimates are likewise varied 2,600-2,900 light-years. It isn't the oldest known open cluster but older clusters tied to the Milky Way are few and none closer.
