About this image

This loose (Class IX)  globular cluster was discovered by William Herschel in March 1784. It is the Deep Sky Section 'Object of Interest' for April.

This image reveals relatively little of the cluster's population of stars, the centre of the cluster shown as no more than a dense blur.

Distance c. 60,000ly. Apparent mag. 10.7.

Bortle 7/8, no Moon, some high light cloud.
