About this image

Gyulbudaghian's nebula in 2022:  The first 4 months

A quick summary of activity in Gyulbudaghian's nebula this year. It started the year faint and has slowly faded even further. As a result it is now barely visible above the background nebulosity. Photometry of PV Cep (by David Boyd and Nick James) shows that the star may have faded very slightly from near mag ~16.8 to ~17.2 over these four months. (See data in the BAA Photometry Database for more details).

Images taken on 4th Jan, 5th Feb, 8th March and 26th April. Each pane is just 9 x 12 arc minutes with north up.
