About this image

This blue compact dwarf galaxy was discovered by William Herschel in February 1788. Its 'peculiar' appearance may be  a result of the merger of two galaxies.

Distance c.22.5million ly. Diameter c.21,000 ly. Apparent diameter c.109". Apparent mag. 11.2.

Bortle 7/8, no Moon, some high light cloud.
