About this image

Managed to get a 90-minute session in last night, with some good quality patches of sky among drifting clouds. I was pleased to see and record my first ever supernova, SN2022hrs in NGC4647. It can be seen between the two galaxies. This object seems to have been around for quite a while (discovered April 16), yet appears to be still outshining its host galaxy.

Nearby giant elliptical galaxy M60 together with the intermediate spiral galaxy NGC4647 comprise Arp 116.

In the lower right corner of the frame lies NGC4638, an edge-on lenticular galaxy.

Approximate distances are M60 55million ly, NGC4638 50million ly, NGC4647 67million ly.
