That feeling when you get up at 2.30am to go to the loo, and there's a magnificient display of NLC outside the window (one of the brightest I've seen from Cambridge). But your camera's got a flat battery and a 600mm lens attached. I got a picture in the end, though the NLC were fast fading into dawn twilight.

It was a nice bright display and developed very quickly.
