This globular cluster was discovered by Pierre Méchain in August 1780. The brighter stars average magnitude 15.86.

Distance c.55,000ly. Diameter c.106lys. Age c.9.5billion yrs. 

Bortle 7/8. Moon waxing gibbous 99% 14 days old, but low in the S and conveniently - for once - partially hidden by trees.
