Spectra of Mira Variable S CrB at record maximum

About this image

The Mira variable S CrB reached a record high maximum brightness of 5.4 (visual and V) around 2022-07-10. These spectra taken around this time closely match an M5iii spectral class (hotter than the range typically reported of M8 to M6) and show narrow Balmer lines in emission, H gamma and delta particularly strongly.
