About this image

A view from SW France of the summer southern sky, including Scorpius, Sagittarius and the Milky Way, with its many star clusters and nebulae. This was taken from just south of 46 deg north, so most of Scorpius is visible, including Theta Scorpii just above the horizon almost directly below Shaula. This star is 43 deg south, so invisible in the UK and only rising to an altitude of 1 deg here.
