Mercury IR 7th August 2022

About this image

Image of Mercury taken in difficult seeing and hot conditions Sunday 7th August with 685nm filter and ASI290MM camera. Comparison shows my image versus the simulation image based on Messenger probe data with 2 pixels of Guassian blur.

Best 5% of 21k frames from best two videos of a total of 13 taken. Videos joined in PIPP then quality sorted in AS3. My spin-blur masking technique used to remove edge rind and improve feature contrast at limb.

Congratulations on getting any kind of image of Mercury in the current conditions, Martin!

All my attempts over the past two weeks have been unsuccessful due to poor local seeing any time Mercury is high enough to acquire.
