About this image

Having seen some images of the so-called 'bat nebula' online, I thought this might be a good target for the longer focal length of the C11. However, the 'naming of parts' in the Eastern Veil nebula is a tricky business. The bulk of the eastern Veil is NGC 6992, and the 'bat' is often designated as NGC 6995. However, closer inspection shows that this appears to be reserved for the 'wing of the bat' (as it were) which joins 6992. Further out, the other 'wing' is IC1340. So the bat-nebula is actually NGC6995+IC1340.

In any case I have only managed a 'bat wing' (NGC 6995) in my field of view. This is a bicolour of Ha(red) and OIII(green and blue) narrowband... Just over 2 hours exposure.
