About this image

Sh2-188 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia.  It is 702 arc seconds in diameter and approximately 800 light years away.  It is unusual in that it is moving through space at high velocity, and colliding with the interstellar medium, resulting in bow shock waves at the front of its direction of movement.Data captured between 5-18 October 2022.
