About this image

NGC 2872 - The brighter of a pair (with NGC 2874), though it looks dimmer on the RealSky image on Guide. Round, fairly bright and visible to direct vision most of the time. The middle is brighter and there is a sharp, almost stellar nucleus.

NGC 2874 - The fainter of a pair of galaxies (with NGC 2872), though it appears brighter on the RealSky image on Guide. Dim but occasionally visible to direct vision. Highly elongated with no central brightening or any other detail visible.
