Lunar occultation of Mars - 2022 Dec 8

About this image

From my location Occult predicted that the DB (disappearance at the bright limb) would occur at 04:56:12 to 04:56:47. The RB (reappearance at the bright limb) would occur at 05:56:06 to 05:56:39.

At 04:15 it was mostly cloudy with leads of clear sky. As I was aligning the 'scope on Mars and the Full Moon the clouds melted away from the scene by 04:40. The attached image shows single frames from the SER videos at around 1st contact and 4th contact. The seeing was reasonable for the DB but an hour later at RB it had degraded because the Moon and Mars were at low altitude over a house roof.

SharpCap uses the computer clock to timestamp the frames. My laptop is synchronised by NTP although I didn't have a link into my observatory, so the timings could have uncertainties of a couple of seconds or thereabouts.
