M79 (NGC1904) is a class V globular cluster in Lepus. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in October 1780.

This COAST image (limited to 3mins exposure) resolves some of the outer stars but not the fairly concentrated core.

Distance c.41,000 ly. Diameter c.104ly. Age c.11.7billion yrs. Apparent mag. c.8.6.
